Clubhouse Opens to the Public!

Do you need an invite to Clubhouse App? Do you want to know how to get a Clubhouse App invite? Well, not anymore. The app, which is kind of like a Dischord room or audio chat room… or a live podcast of sorts used to be an invite-only experience, but as of today anyone and everyone can join in on the conversation. According to the official Clubhouse App blog,

Twelve never-boring months later, we’re thrilled to share that Clubhouse is now out of beta, open to everyone, and ready to begin its next chapter. This means we have removed our waitlist system so that anyone can join. If you have a club, you can post your link far and wide. If you are a creator with an audience, you can bring them all on. If you’re hosting a public event, anyone can attend. – Clubhouse App Blog

Keeping the App blocked and invite-only helped the App grow much faster especially after landing huge cameos from people like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Others. What made Clubhouse App most popular? The answer to this may have something to do with human nature. In using the app during the beta phase it was as if it was a meet and greet with celebrities or figures who were way out of reach or even a highly curated networking space.

One of the biggest success stories of Clubhouse App is that it managed to launch many very deserving careers in a way other social media platforms had not. Comedian Leah Lamarr from the original Get it Girl cast was on one of the first major Clubhouse App comedy shows and she has since amassed a following of over 228k followers. She has even been the topic of conversation on the Joe Rogan podcast where he mentioned his advice to her to do something different with the platform.

Among the different milestones that the app has reached they chose to highlight some pretty impressive numbers to demonstrate their growth including:

Clubhouse App Stats:

  • Team growth from 8 people to 58
  • Daily rooms from 50k to 500k+
  • 10M new ads to the app since mid-May
  • 90M DM’s since launching the DM feature of Clubhouse called Backchannel
  • An average listing time of 1 hour a day per user.

As you can see much of the success of the app has to do with connecting people, making them feel special, and giving them a place to interact that seems to have at least a little buffer of polish on it. You have to remember the App started gaining popularity in a time where most of us were locked up in our homes away from friends and family, much less casual social circles. Here at LATV we launched a channel and one of the liveliest conversations we had was about Latino vs Latinx, we enjoyed a room full of hundreds of people sharing their opinion on how they felt about the terms that describe them.

Along with the app came interesting behaviors that could help us all in conversation. One of the favorites to help is to say ” I’m finished speaking” when you’re done speaking or making your point to prevent talking over other participants. Keep this one in the bag.

With the announcement of Clubhouse App opening up, new questions remain for what the future of the app will look like. For one, like every other app, opening it up will invite the new more mischievous crowd to no doubt develop fun, festive and destructive ways of trolling. So, you know, look out for that.

LATV’s Andres Palencia got to test out the app and get into his feelings about it… check out the video below to get more insight into the Clubhouse Experience.
