Chris Perez was Selena Quintanilla’s First Love

Selena: The Series Part 2 is finally here! The last episode of Season 1 ended with Selena’s dad Abraham leaving Los Dinos’ guitarist Chris on the street when he noticed Chris and Selena were together in the back of the bus holding on to each other – something that would become a major theme in Season 2.

Before Selena passed away at the age of 23, she began a new chapter in of womanhood. In her early twenties, Selena met her first love, Chris Perez. In part 2 of the series, Selena opens up to her sister Suzette about how she is still in love with Chris. The dilemma she encounters is the choice between Chris and her career, which also involves her family. Selena’s concern worsens when her father announces more months are being added to their tour, including a potential trip to Mexico.

Although Abraham does not allow Selena and Chris to be together, he allows A.B. to bring Chris back into the band. At this point, Selena chooses to secretly continue her romance with Chris. Somewhat abruptly, they make the decision to get married in court. Instead of wearing a white dress, Selena leaves her home with a white long sleeve shirt, jeans and black boots without her family knowing where she is going. Selena also reveals she had other dreams aside from her singing career. She wanted to be with Chris, and she wanted to have her own clothing line. The episode ends with Selena confronting her father and family after they find out she got married. In the end, Selena wanted something more than fame – she wanted true love.
