The Rise of Latino Superheroes in Marvel and DC

For years, Latino fans have been asking: Where are the superheroes that look like us? Well, they’re here and they’re finally getting their moment in the spotlight.
With Avengers: Doomsday set to hit theaters in 2026, Marvel is bringing some major Latino talent. Three of the movie’s leads are Latino actors, which represents a significant step forward in representation.
Pedro Pascal, aka Mr. Fantástico, is set to lead the new Fantastic Four. Danny Ramirez, the Mexican-Colombian actor, is gearing up as the new Falcon. And Tenoch Huerta returns as the mighty Namor, king of Talokan. That’s right, we’ll be seeing a lineup of heroes with names like Joaquín and Pedro fighting to save the world. It’s about time.

But these aren’t the only Latino superheroes worth knowing about. Let’s go over some of the most iconic, and underrated, Latino heroes in the Marvel and DC universes.
Miles Morales – Spider-Man
Half Puerto Rican, half Black, and 100% Spider-Man. Miles took up the mantle after Peter Parker’s death, bringing a fresh new energy to the iconic suit. If you’ve watched Into the Spider-Verse or Across the Spider-Verse, you already know why he’s a fan favorite.
America Chavez – Miss America
America is a dimension-hopping Latina with some serious powers. Raised by two moms in a utopian reality, she has the incredible ability to punch holes through the multiverse. She made her debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), played by Xochitl Gomez, quickly becoming a breakout star.

Robbie Reyes – Ghost Rider
Robbie is a Mexican-American teen from East L.A. who drives a flaming muscle car and fights with hellfire. Gabriel Luna portrayed him in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and honestly, he might be the coolest version of Ghost Rider ever.
Anya Corazón – Spider-Girl (Araña)
Born in Brooklyn with Mexican and Puerto Rican roots, Anya has martial arts skills and spider powers. In Madame Web, she’s played by Isabela Merced, and yes, she’s rocking the Spider-Girl suit.
Jaime Reyes – Blue Beetle
Played by Xolo Maridueña in Blue Beetle (2023), Jaime is the first Latino superhero to lead a DC movie. He’s just your average guy in El Paso who stumbles upon an alien scarab and transforms into the ultimate armored hero.

Sunspot – Roberto da Costa
Hailing from Brazil, Sunspot has the power to absorb solar energy and unleash it in fiery blasts. He’s been a member of the X-Men and has even led some Avengers squads. He was on the big screen in Days of Future Past (Adan Canto) and New Mutants (Henry Zaga).
Elena Rodriguez – Yo-Yo (Slingshot)
She’s super fast. Like, blink-and-she’s-gone fast. But there’s a catch: she always snaps back to where she started, just like a yo-yo. Played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Elena is an important member of the Secret Warriors.
White Tiger – Ava Ayala & Angela del Toro
These two are connected by the mystical White Tiger amulet. Angela, who was presented by Camila Rodriguez in Daredevil: Born Again, is a fierce martial artist dedicated to protecting her community.
Renee Montoya – The Question
Hailing from Gotham with Dominican roots, Renee was a cop before becoming The Question, a faceless vigilante. She uses her detective skills and fists to fight corruption. Rosie Perez portrayed her in Birds of Prey (2020).
Cisco Ramon – Vibe
A Puerto Rican genius who can open portals and manipulate vibrations. Played by Carlos Valdes in The Flash series, Cisco’s nerdy charm and big heart made him one of the show’s most beloved characters.
The superhero world is finally catching up. Latino characters aren’t just sidekicks or background figures anymore: they’re the main event. They’re leading teams, saving universes, and doing it all with our names, our accents, and our stories.
