Is it Easy to Apologize or is Too Late to Say ‘Sorry’?

Is it Easy to Apologize or is Too Late to Say ‘Sorry’?

They say there’s a weight that lifts off your shoulders when you forgive, but, does the same go when you have to apologize? For our own mental health, our TQA team unpacks that!

Let’s look at apologizing as “the gift of knowing how to lose.” For peace to exist, it is necessary to know how to forgive, as well as when you have to say sorry. It works both ways. Apologizing does not mean giving up your principles, values, justice and ideals; however, it does imply losing prejudices, losing the past and living in the present.

As the cast of The Q Agenda discussed, an apology is a regretful acknowledgement of a failure or an offense, but what happens when we don’t regret a hundred percent of our actions?

“If I realize that I made a mistake. it’s very easy to say ‘hey, I’m sorry for what I did’. But some people have a problem with that, they kind of argue before they even apologize,” says Enrique.

“I think it’s easier to apologize if you really know what you did than be defensive about it,” says Victor. “I don’t know if it’s hard to do, but I think some people have an accountability issue.”

Bottom line, apologizing is coming to terms with the coexistence of common well-being.
