Afrobeta ‘BirthRight’ Documentary Follows Duo’s Journey Back To Cuba

Afrobeta and filmmaker Jayme Kaye Gershen premiered their documentary film BirthRight as the closing showcase for the 2021 Miami Film Festival.

Birthright follows Miami-bred electro-pop musicians, Afrobeta, as they are invited to perform in Havana, Cuba. The duo’s desire to visit their parents’ homeland ignites a surreal journey into who they are, where they come from, and what being Cuban really means.

Jayme Kaye Gershen is an Emmy-award winning filmmaker based in Miami, FL. Through the use of humor, parallels and universal themes, her work sheds a surprisingly relatable light on issues that at first glance may seem unfamiliar.
