Wicked’ Movie Cast: Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande

Deadline reported that Wicked is coming to the silver screen and it’s going to star Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The Broadway-to-screen adaptation from Universal will be directed by John M-Chu. Now, this pairing of epic voices leaves us to wonder who will play who? This Wicked movie cast has to follow the Broadway musical that has become a full-blown hit thanks to the original cast which included Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba. In the Wicked we’ll ve seeing the role of Elphaba played by Cynthia Erivo and the role of Glinda played by Ariana Grande… naturally.

Instead of the news breaking through some playbill pamphlet or whatever happens when Broadway people announce things, the news spread across social media thanks to posts by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

As a franchise Wicked is still going very very strong on Broadway as it’s in its 18th season. Production of the Wicked movie is going to take place in 2022 in the UK and we’re still in development so we are not quite sure when the expected Wicked movie release date is.
