What to Watch this October on Netflix

With October just around the corner, Netflix announced its long-awaited list of new arrivals. New movies, series, and new and final seasons are dropping on the platform. LATV has put together a compilation of some of these productions to add to next month’s must-watch list.

Beckham – October 4th

“Beckham” is a four-part documentary series based on the life and career of English former professional soccer star David Beckham. The documentary takes a deep look into the beloved player’s rise to fame, his time playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Los Angeles Galaxy, and his life after retirement, such as luring seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi to Inter Miami CF. The series features a mix of never-before-seen footage and interviews with Beckham, his family, and his friends. 

The series also delves into Beckham’s relationship with Victoria Beckham and explores some of the controversies that he has been involved in, such as the infamous “Bootgate” scandal, where he was accused of deliberately getting himself sent off in a World Cup match in 1998.

Lupin (Part 3) – October 5th

“Lupin” is a French mystery thriller series that premiered on Netflix in 2021. The official synopsis for Lupin Part 3 reads, “Now in hiding, Assane must learn to live far from his wife and son. With the suffering they endure because of him, Assane can’t stand it any longer and decides to return to Paris to make things right. But, with his face plastered all over town as a wanted man and everyone on the lookout for him, it might be harder to disappear.”

The third season sees the return of Omar Sy as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief who seeks to avenge his father’s death and bring the Pellegrini family to justice using his cunning tactics of deception and disguise. According to the show’s creator, George Kay, the third season is a fresh start with new characters while retaining the majority of the original cast. The focus also shifts away from Babaker, Assane’s late father, though his memory still remains an important, emotional crutch for Assane.

A Deadly Invitation – October 6th

“A Deadly Invitation” is a Mexican series based on the novel “Invitación a un asesinato” by Carmen Posadas. It follows the story of Agatha, a true crime enthusiast, who receives a mysterious invitation from her half-sister Olivia to spend a weekend on her yacht with a group of old acquaintances. After Olivia appears murdered, Agatha finds herself entangled in her death and must find the killer. 

The series, directed by José Manuel Cravioto and produced by Erik Barmack, Alexis Fridman, and Jimena Rodriguez, stars Regina Blandón as Agatha and famous Mexican actors Ana Claudia Talancón, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Vadhir Derbez

Fair Play – October 6th

Fair Play is an American erotic thriller film written and directed by Chloe Domont, in her feature directorial debut. The movie centers around Emily (Phoebe Dynevor) and Luke (Alden Ehrenreich), a pair of financial analysts who are in a relationship while working at a cutthroat hedge fund firm in New York City. The film explores gender dynamics, double standards in the workplace, and the unraveling of a young couple’s relationship following an unexpected promotion.

Pact of Silence – October 11th

“Pact of Silence” is an upcoming Mexican series on Netflix that follows the story of an important social media influencer Brenda Rey, who plunges headfirst into the lives of four women fueled by a thirst for the truth about her birth and revenge.

Abandoned as a baby and adopted by a wealthy family, the now-adult Brenda embarks on a journey to find out which of the four women is her birth mother. But as she gets closer to the truth, she realizes that the women are hiding a dark secret. 

Neon – October 19th

Neon is an upcoming Netflix comedy series that explores the world of reggaetón music in Miami. The show follows the journey of three friends who move to Miami with dreams of making it in the music industry and turning the world of reggaetón on its head. 

Starring Tyler Dean Flores, Emma Ferreira, and Jordan Mendoza, the show is an exciting and hilarious ride as the friends navigate the challenges of the music industry and work together to achieve their goals. The series promises to be a fresh take on reggaetón culture, with a unique perspective on the genre and a diverse cast.

Elite (Season 7) – October 20th

The seventh season of the Spanish series Elite continues its story where season 6 had left off, with a mysterious shooter arriving at Las Encinas. While it is unclear who was holding the gun and who was hurt, there are several characters suspected of seeking revenge. This season also includes a variety of new characters, including Brazilian singer Anitta in an undisclosed role.

Pain Hustlers – October 27th

“Pain Hustlers” is an upcoming Netflix movie directed by David Yates and starring Chris Evans and Emily Blunt in the lead roles. The movie, based on the true story of an infamous pharmaceutical scam, follows a failing pharmaceutical startup that creates a new painkiller and hires sales representatives to promote it to doctors and patients. However, the drug is highly addictive and causes severe side effects, leading to a nationwide epidemic.
