What is make up and why do we wear it?
Talking about her love for makeup, Zashia shares, “I love that makeup brings that ‘I get to dress up.‘ Whether I have a date, if I’m going to dinner, or if I have to film something, I get to get glammed up. But I absolutely love the skin care part of makeup, because I feel like a lot of people forget about that part.”

Meanwhile, Najah expresses her admiration for the playful nature of makeup. “Makeup is fun. I think you can play with it. I’m not a Halloween girlie, but I love to see the big beauty gurus doing incredible Halloween makeup! The special effects are insane! And also in movies and stuff.”

Allison Dixon weighs in, emphasizing the significance of diverse voices and experiences of the makeup industry. “I feel like there used to be maybe four shades of foundation and three shades of concealer, and I just love the fact that more brands are coming out with different tones to accommodate different complexions. There was absolutely no representation when I started out. That’s why I love the fact that a lot of people from different backgrounds are getting that recognition.”
Najah assures that “there is no face that is done without lashes.” “I can’t live without lashes. I will literally wear a bare face if I have lashes and brows, those are my two gotta have,” comments Zashia, with Allison adding: “I love how much lashes have evolved as well. They have the extensions, the glueless lashes. It’s a lot easier.”
On a funnier note, Najah talks about the importance of the block button as a content creator. “You know what the best creation besides blush was? The block button. Works really well for content creators.” “It’s so funny because I actually went on to see how many people I had blocked and I was like ‘oh’,” Allison tags on.
“I think you just have to take what people say with a grain of salt. Some people speak from a bad place. But if you stay true to who you are and you know that you want those things, you’re fine,” the guest goes on to say.

Speaking of representation, on the “Get to Know” segment we feature the multi-talented model and poet Fritzi Melo. In conversation with our hosts, she talks about the difficulty of finding people who looked like her, as an Afro-Latina, in the industry, and how she accomplished her dream.
“Ever since high school I’ve always had a dream of going to California. nothing specific. I’ve just always loved the idea of being by the beach, the nature, being so immersed in that. And then one day I was like ‘I’m just going to visit, let me see what it’s like’ and I just felt this calm that I can’t get in New York, cause it’s always so fast. And I moved two months later.”
