West Side Story’s Ana Isabelle on How She Got a Part on the Iconic Film

Season 20 of American Latino kicked off with a bang! After the success of Steven Spielberg’s film West Side Story, we got a chance to catch up with Puerto Rican actress, singer and songwriter, Ana Isabelle, who made a stellar appearance in the iconic remake as Rosalia. Billboard Magazine called her An Artist To Watch and she stole the hearts of more than 30 million Latinos who voted and made her the winner of Viva el Sueño on Univision. Her tenacity has made her unstoppable. Her other television credits include: Younger, Strangers and Big Dogs. She made her New York Stage Debut Off Broadway in the Musical I Like it Like That with Tito Nieves and won Broadway Worlds Regional Award for Best Actress both for her performance as Eva Peron.
On this episode, we also featured a future badass filmmaker Jearnest Corchado. You may know her as the incredible Mexican squash player, Marisol Rosado, aka The Jaguar on Apple TV’s Little America, or as the teenage assassin Anna Gracia Duarte on NBC’s The Blacklist, or as the awesome Sofia Martin on Syfy’s Cucuy The Boogeyman. Wherever you may have seen her, you should know that she has been chasing her childhood dream and hopea to inspire younger Latinas through her journey, or “Jearney,” as she calls it.
Also, get to a Texas native born with a knack for comedy. Monica Villa is only in her early 20’s but has built such a strong fan base as a social media star and member of Familia Fuego. As she embraces her Mexican American heritage, she creates relatable videos about her childhood experiences and her modern life in a bilingual home. Her favorite shows from her childhood are family-centered humor shows like, La Familia Peluche and La Hora Pico. Not only is she a multifaceted content creator, but she has a background in music and a passion for singing and acting.
Finally, on this episode, we get to know a sister duo from the Dominican republic. The Frias sisters, Mabel y Sahira. Mabel is a digital strategist with over 12 years of experience in executing digital merchandising strategies at fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands like Macy’s, Nordstrom and Savage x Fenty, lingerie by Rihanna. The sister duo has fused talents to create Luna magic beauty. Their list of accomplishments and recognitions go beyond what we can imagine.
