We discuss “Tradwives” Who are the Women Behind this Trend? and we Welcome Guest Silvia Kal | Get it Girl!

Remember the days where wives would stay home taking care of themselves and the house? Apparently we’re having a comeback with the newest Instagram and TikTok trend; The Traditional Wives (or tradwives).
Is this new trend a step back for women’s rights or is it actually feminism in disguise?
What is a Tradwife?
In a nostalgia for the 50’s, Tradwives are a group of women, usually very Christian, who believe in sex roles; the husband provides and the wife takes care of the house and kids (if any). Many tradwives believe that they do not sacrifice women’s rights by choosing to take a homemaking role within their marriage. But the truth is that these women depend on their hubbies for financial independence.
Why would any woman opt for that? Financial freedom? It could be a reaction to the overall liberalization of American belief systems. Or it could be that working is hard but cooking and looking good while your hubby works all day is a way better deal.
Our hosts, Britni Camacho, Aliyah Orozco and Steph Elyse discuss the pros and cons of the ‘tradwives trend’ in our latest episodes, alongside guests Silvia Kal and Yara Estrada-Lowe.
