The Stars of the WWC 2023 and Where to Watch Them Play

The Women’s World Cup has ended with Spain on top of the soccer world. The stars of the tournament head back to their clubs. Here are a few players who did great for their countries and where you can catch them in action.
The Spain midfielder was awarded the Golden Ball trophy after her team won gold against England. The Golden Ball Award is given to the best player in the World Cup final. Even though she did not score the winning goal, Bonmatí was integral to the team winning gold for the first time in history. The 25-year-old started and played in all seven matches for Spain, tied for first in goals with three, and played a total of 585 total minutes.
Bonmatí currently plays for FC Barcelona in the Spanish Liga F league. The midfielder has been with the team coming up in it’s system since 2012. Bonmatí is also a candidate for the Ballon d’Or, which is given to the FIFA World Player of the Year. It can end up being a career year for the young superstar.
The Golden Glove award is given to the best goalkeeper of the World Cup tournament and that is exactly what Mary Earps from England was. The 30-year-old was able to hold teams scoreless in three of the seven matches she played in. Only surrendered four goals in the tournament. Earps never allowed more than one goal in a game. In the Championship she held Spain to only one goal. This was an impressive performance due to Spain leading the tournament in goals, shots on goal and pass completion. A perfect performance was required to stop Spain and Earps nearly did that.
Earps has been a pro since the age of 16 In 2009 she joined Leicester City from the Women’s Super League. Over the next 14 years Earps played for a variety of different clubs and now finds herself playing for Manchester United. The new season for Manchester starts on October 1. Earps’ future is uncertain as the goalkeeper and Manchester has yet to reach a new agreement on a contract. The transfer window for soccer closes on September 14. It will be interesting to see whether Earps stays or goes.
Miyazawa was brilliant for Japan in the 2023 World Cup. At 23 years old, the potential is limitless for the midfielder. Miyazawa helped Japan reach the quarterfinals before falling to Sweden 2-1. Miyazawa scored five goals and started in all five matches for Japan. The five goals were enough to lead all players in the tournament. She was awarded the Golden Boot. The trophy recognizes the top scorer of the tournament.
Miyazawa can be seen playing for Manchester United. After signing a new contract this past week. Leaving her club MyNaviSendai from the Japanese women’s league known as “We League”. She played two seasons for the team. Manchester United is a loaded team now with two trophy earners from the World Cup.
FIFA has a new star on the rise and it’s Salma Paralluelo. The nineteen-year-old was awarded The Young Player trophy. This award recognizes the best player under the age of 21. Making her debut for Spain in 2022 Paralluelo impressed soccer fans from across the globe with her play. The left winger had her moment of the tournament when she scored in the semis when she scored in the 111th minute sending Spain to the semis then followed up with an opening goal in the next match against Sweden.
Parallels will be playing for Barcelona this upcoming season and looks to be a franchise player for the club. Barcelona kicks off its season on September 10 against Valencia.
