The Salvi Vegan: Veganism that won’t let you lose your culture

When you think of Latino food, the first thing that comes to mind may be carne asada, pollo and all kinds of meat being at the core of our dishes. However, Afro-Salvadoran Norma Perez, a former choreographer for over 20 years, who got diagnosed with osteoarthritis on her lower back in her late 30s, took health matters into her own hands after learning how meat consumption contributed to some of the most common health issues we see.
Known as the ‘Salvi Vegan,’ Norma is here to change the game with about 63 dishes of her own that fuse her Salvadorian sazón with her veganism.
So when you think of being Vegan, what do you eat?
Besides substituting meat, Norma shared with our show Ganadoras, how ginger and blueberries are anti-inflammatory foods —you won’t believe what else she uses to make unique delicatessens. We promise you’re not going to lose your Latino culture!
Here are three of her delicious dishes from the Salvi Vegan herself:
Nachos, Guacamol (without the e), and loroco dip with yuca chips.
