The Perks of Being a Parent!

It’s true that kids don’t come with instructions – but they definitely come with needs, dreams and something very refreshing: zero judgment. However, as they grow, they might inherit our fears and traumas making them their own. So how can we stop that?

That’s the mission of Latinx Parenting. It’s an organization that believes passionately in shifting the paradigm of parenting towards creating a trauma-informed approach where families can create connection and compassion in their homes and  promote community healing. To achieve that, they offer family education that encompasses the cultural, socio-political and diverse needs of each family. Because in the end, it all comes down to education. The more you read, the more you inform yourself, the better choices you are going to make (in theory).

Remember, kids are like sponges – they absorb everything in their surroundings, and they have no filter to determine what is good or bad.  If you tell a kid they cannot accomplish certain things, you are kind of casting a spell on them. On the other hand, saying they can do anything without providing the tools can be equally frustrating for them.

No one said parenting was easy, and you don’t have to figure things out on your own. You can always ask for help and bond with other parents in a similar situation. Thank you Latinx Parenting for providing such a safe space to raise the children of our future!
