The NFL celebrates Latino Heritage Month with the “Por La Cultura” campaign

The National Football League will be celebrating Latino excellence with a season-long campaign titled “Por La Cultura”.
The campaign will focus on Latino representation in the league. The NFL has a growing number of Latino personnel within its 32 teams, from coaches to players, and staff. The goal of this campaign is to “…elevate Latino culture, inspire and propel youth toward their dreams, and build a unified path to greatness through sport,”
The campaign kicked off on September 15 and will go through all 18 weeks of the season through the playoffs. There are seven different ways and events the campaign will spread Latino culture
“Hometown Heroes” highlights shared truth for Latino players
The NFL will be following the stories of three Latin players through the series “hometown heroes”. The player’s stories being told are San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, an offensive guard from the New York Jets Alijah Vera-Tucker, and New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. In this series, expect to learn about the journey of these three players, what helped them be successful, what built their love for the game, and personal insights into who they are and how being a Latino shaped them.
Hispanic Heritage Foundation celebrates Latino student-athletes
The NFL had teamed up with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. The goal of these two organizations coming together is to
recognize Latino athletes who are excelling in tackle and flag football as well as being amazing student-athletes. This program will be a full league effort, as all 32 teams will be participating. Each team is going to recognize one or two Latino high school football players who they feel are shining off and on the gridiron. Then the league will pick eight of those finalists. The winning eight will be given grants, and awards and be highlighted during the week of the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The league and HHF will provide lots of content and share the stories of these amazing athletes.
Career advancement affiliations power the Latino community
The NFL is building an amazing squad to help push the careers of young Latinos. The careers do not have to be only about football. Latinos who need guidance can find help through the NFL and its handful of partners. The list includes the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancements (HACE), Latinas in Tech, Latinx in Sports, and We Are All Human. All these organizations are pushing for the full potential of Latinos.
Neon16 & NTERTAIN Studios bring “Por La Cultura” music to life
The NFL, with the help of NTERTAIN Studios, NEON16, and Tainy and Lex Berrero are joining forces for the third time to create a world of football and music together. For the 2023 season, all parties will be creating a creative dream featuring Latino players and NEON16 stars to formulate an original song and music video representing the Latino community.
According to nfl.com, “The collaboration will comprise a series of exclusive tracks, including “Rómpela” featuring Yandel, El Alfa and Will.I.Am, which is the first track on the mixtape and backdrop of the campaign kickoff spot “The Celebration.”
The creative process is already underway. The first song has been released with the title “NIVEL#0B” from the production of RMAND. This song was curated by Dominican star RMAND and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios who himself is Puerto Rican. More tracks will be released during the season.
