The world may have gotten a glimpse of her shine on  Tiny Desk, but at just the young age of 18 years old, Dominican female rapper J Noa is already leaving an incredible mark on the music industry. She may be young, but she already fully embraces her role as a storyteller, creatiing a narratives that includes resilience, struggle, and empowerment through music and lyrics. For J Noa, music is more than just beats and rhymes, it’s a platform for social change and a reflection of her own experiences. both lived and seen.

Growing up in her barrio, J Noa witnessed firsthand the inequalities of life. These experiences have deeply influenced her music, shaping her perspective as a musical artist. She wants to incite positive change through her lyrics.

One particular memory stands out from her childhood when she was just 5 years old, which at a young age gave the rapper a glimpse into the present realities of the world around her.  She believes it is her responsibility to tell the stories of those within her neighborhood growing up.

Despite her confidence as an artist, J Noa acknowledges that some may perceive her as arrogant due to her unapologetic personality and outspoken nature. She calls herself “The daughter of rap” and remains commited in her beliefs, refusing to shy away from speaking her truth. “Yo digo la verdad, y punto,” which translated, means “I tell the truth, period!”
