Squid Game’ Season 2 Confirmed by Creator!

The creator of Netflix’s Squid Game has just confirmed to AP that there will in fact be a Squid Game Season 2. Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the series who also directed and wrote it said in an interview with the Associated Press that due to the high demand by fans of the series, Squid Game Season 2 will become a reality. This is the first time it’s been confirmed that the series will return after giving vague answers during other interviews. In the clip which was shared through the AP Twitter account the creator said he is in the very very early stages of planning for Squid Game S2:
“But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”
Fans of the series were left with kind of a cliffhanger ending to the first season, and many are demanding to get some closure for the main character Gi-hun.
Like Narcos Mexico, and other series not in English, Squid Game is one of those streaming series that goes beyond language and takes over the pop culture narrative. In fact, one creator has already started rumors of making his own real-life Squid Game.
Squid Game Season 2 Plot
At the moment as confirmed by the series creator there is very little information as to what the plot of Squid Game s2 will focus on, but many have speculated that it could take on one of two different plots. On one hand, Seong Gi-hun could carry on and become the dude who runs the Squid Game… but something tells me he might try to take on the whole corrupt system that subjects people to have to play the game. For now, this is mostly speculation, but we’ll keep an eye out to see what’s in store for the second season of the record-breaking series.
Check out the tweet below showing the creator breaking silence on season 2.
