Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Through the Afro Latino Lens

Mi genté! Rejoice and save the date because June 2nd is when the new Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, is being released in theaters. This movie will touch on the topics of being a superhero through the lens of an Afro-latino main character. Combined with the amazing Spider-Man universe this movie is a recipe for a good time. 

Synopsis 

Miles Morales returns in the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man™: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, he is catapulted through the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of spider-powered individuals tasked with protecting their existence. However, when the heroes disagree on how to handle a new threat, Miles must confront the other versions of Spider-Man and redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves most.

What happened in the first movie?

In case you need a little reminder of the events of the first movie we got you covered. Firstly, Miles Morales was just your average teenager from Brooklyn. Until, yup you guessed it, he was bit by a radioactive spider that gave him spider-like powers.

As Miles tries to navigate his newfound powers and responsibilities, he stumbles upon a device known as the “Super Collider.” The Collider, created by the villainous Kingpin, has the ability to open portals to other dimensions. This results in the arrival of various versions of Spider-Man from different realities.

Miles finds himself teaming up with these alternate versions of Spider-Man, including Peter B. Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker with her robot, SP//dr. Together, they must work as a team to stop Kingpin and his nefarious plans that threaten the stability of the multiverse.

Throughout their journey, each Spider-Man brings their unique skills, experiences, and personal struggles. They not only have to face powerful enemies but also confront their own fears and doubts. Through their collective efforts, they teach Miles the importance of embracing his individuality and finding his own path as a hero.
