There are many destinations to travel to in the world, but it could be a tough task to find a single country that has excellent qualities in all types of trips. Spain, however, is home to luxury beaches, islands, the best gastronomic and wine tourism, and World Heritage Sites, just to name a few reasons to visit.

Spain offers a good combination of history, culture, magnificent nature and entertainment to make anyone’s trip one for the books. It’s no surprise it’s one of our favorite travel destinations and here’s why it should be in your future travel plans too.

Traveling through Spain is to feel like in an open-air museum. Spain is home to dozens of (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites that are worth seeing, admiring, and Instagramming. You will find an infinity of monuments, churches, palaces, walls, bridges that will have you mesmerized.

Tapas y Tintos

One of the greatest attractions of Spain is its top-of-the-line gastronomy, which is one of the best in the world for both variety and quality. Every foodie will be able to taste the influence of the Mediterranean cuisine in a fresh gazpacho or in a paella. Every region in Spain has its own version of the paella, which is why it’s a fun/controversial topic among Spaniards. But what we learned from The Q Agenda trivia with Spain Tourism is that this delish dish finds the most popularity in Valencia.

Fun food fact: Spain is also home to the oldest restaurant in the world, Casa Botín de Madrid, which was founded in 1725. Foodies, be ready to be enthused!

Beach, please!

Moving on to the beaches! The ports and beaches of Spain are great attractions that make it one of the main tourist destinations. Andalusia has the warmth of the Mediterranean Sea, in Palma de Mallorca the beaches are the main attraction. The Costa Brava of Catalonia is the master of crystal clear waters, and the Bay of La Concha, in San Sebastián, is surrounded by beautiful buildings from the 19th century.

¡Al natural!

Speaking of nature, la naturaleza de España is very diverse. Apart from breath-taking beaches, if you’re looking for a different way of spending the summer, you will find mountains and plains as well as forests and deserts. The Spanish orography allows it to have very diverse landscapes. The country also has one of the highest lands on the continent, where snowy and green valleys merge. You can pick your best option and head out to explore.

¡Vamos de juerga, anda!

Flamenco is one of the most popular art forms in Spain and every day more tablaos (flamenco and dinner shows) care more for their gastronomic offer in an outstanding way. You can find places to have dinner and watch a tablao for dessert.

What about the post-dinner fun? Can we say the party does not stop?

We’re not kidding when we tell you the celebrations are always massive, the nights out usually last until almost dawn. (Believe us, we’ve been there!) Spain is also highly regarded as a safe travel destination for LGBTQIA+ travelers, Spanish cities like Madrid have vibrant gay communities that are the life of the party. When the party is over (though it never truly ends), there are plenty of family friendly activities and destinations for families with children. There are excellent options to go out and disconnect such as the terraces, the nightclubs, and the bars, where you’ll find out every Spaniard’s passion for fútbol.

And, if you’d rather watch a soccer game in person, La Liga games are worth going to the stadium for. Sit back, relax, grab a pair of cañas (beers) and watch Real Madrid Vs. Barcelona, ¡todo un clásico!

By the way, if you want to ask for a beer in Spain and sound like a local, refrain from saying “una cerveza, por favor.” Instead, we recommend learning the following phrases:

Una caña, por favor

Ponme dos cañas, ¡anda!

¡Échame un par de cañas!

We hope you can include Spain in your future travel destinations.
