Soccer Star Pelé hospitalized due to health complications

Former Brazilian soccer player Pelé, 82, has been transferred to the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Sao Paulo, ESPN Brasil reports.
The three-time world champion, who suffers from colon cancer and whose health has deteriorated in recent years, was treated with chemotherapy and, in the last few hours, he has developed a strange inflammation in the body and identified with decompensated heart failure, reports say.
Although the hospital has not released any information, Pelé’s daughter Kely Nascimento, who is currently in Qatar following the World Cup, published a message on her Instagram account in which she clarified that. “It is nothing serious.”
“The media are going crazy again and I want to come here and calm down a bit. My father is hospitalized and his medicines are being regulated,” said Nascimento.
“There is nothing surprising or an emergency” after clarifying that she has not rushed to find a flight to return to Brazil, that her brothers are at Pelé’s side in the hospital and that she plans to visit him in the New Year.
Pelé underwent surgery last year for a colon tumor detected during a routine test.
Since then, he has undergone a cycle of chemotherapy sessions that has forced him to go to the hospital several times to closely follow his evolution.
Pelé’s health has deteriorated in recent years due to other causes as well, such as spinal, hip and knee problems, which have reduced his mobility. This has drastically reduced his public appearances, although he remains very active on social networks.
