To honor and celebrate Black History Month, LATV will be premiering its brand new Afro-Latina focused beauty series, Shades of Beauty on Friday, February 18th, hosted by Simone Mariposa and Yoe Apolinario.

Shades of Beauty is not your average beauty show – we touch on subjects that are relatable, but approach these conversations from a unique angle. As such, we are able to break down the beauty stereotypes that are all too prevalent in our current media landscape, and instead dive deep into the many aspects of what beauty really is: every shape and every shade

On Shades of Beauty, we celebrate all shades all the time with the Shaira and Mabel Frias, the incredibly talented sisters who founded Luna Magic Cosmetics. 

This groundbreaking new series centered around Afro-Latina beauty, created by women for women, promises to offer out of the box inspiration as well as practical tips to have you feeling like your best self every day of the week. 

Shades of Beauty will focus on appropriately framing the audience’s perception of beauty to better understand its place in our culture, but will also provide viewers with a sense of agency over their looks.

Meet the Hosts of Shades of Beauty

Simone Mariposa ia a Los Angeles-based influencer, blogger, writer, actor, improvisor, doula, and inspirer who is making waves in the worlds of fashion, media and body positivity.

“This show is a place for education, representation, and inspiration. Our goal is to bring awareness to diversity in beauty, and to show that people of all shapes, sizes, and creeds deserve to know they are beautiful,” said host Simone.

Yorelis “Yoe” Apolinario, a Florida native professional dancer and author whose life experiences transformed from thoughts to words and gave birth to her first book Cafè Con Leche.

“A show like this would’ve been monumental if it was around when I was growing up. Maybe I could’ve avoided some of the things I had to unlearn and relearn in my adulthood.” – Yoe
