Selena’ The Movie, Returns to Theaters for Its 25th Anniversary

It was just a few weeks back that the official Selena Quintanilla‘s Instagram account announced that the original 1997 Selena movie would go back to theaters in selected states around the U.S. Today this is a reality.
On March 21st, 25 years ago, Selena was released in theaters nationwide starring Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos.
“Celebrating a legend, her legacy and music for one night only, ‘Selena’ will open in theaters across the country on April 7,” the post reads.
The film is a biographical work that portrays the “dedication, perseverance and hope of a family” to get her daughter to position herself as ‘The Queen of Tex-Mex,’ a musical genre that was dominated by men and continues to be.
The premiere took place in 1997, two years after Selena’s murder at the hands of Yolanda Saldívar who was the leader of her the singer’s fan club, Selena’s personal assistant and even best friend.
