Sara Mora’s Digital Content Inspires Real Action

On Get it Girl, immigrants rights activist, content creator and digital Jefa Sara Mora spoke with host Gia Fey. With features and articles about her in Seventeen, The Oprah Magazine, Elle and others, at a very young age she has become an authority as an advocate for immigrant rights.
On Get it Girl, the conversation centered around shifting mindsets in the wake of all that has happened over the past year. Mora comes from a social media world that exists outside of positive affirmations, inspirational quotes and mystical juju… she operated in a much more real realm and she’s become a master at it even though the unprecedented moment we’re living in has caused her to reflect and even become more open to sharing. She commented to Gia what that looks like in the world of Social justice, “If you are in social justice you sound like you’re angry all the time. What I’ve shifted from last year to know is I share my soft moments, right? I’m like, I’m making a green juice and yeah I might be cursing out a politician tomorrow.”
“By all means speak, you have a voice right, you’re part of society, but don’t speak on something so aggressively if you’re not educated on it.” – Sara Mora
While reigning in the effect of freewheeling positivity is very important in allowing us all to have a better perspective and exercise empathy and be inspired to take action, but alo not getting too carried away in the other direction can have it’s pitfalls as well. Sara Mora shared with Gia Fey her attitude towards speaking out and being passionate about something, but staying grounded and most importantly, informed. She said in the interview, “By all means speak, you have a voice right, you’re part of society, but don’t speak on something so aggressively if you’re not educated on it.” As a leader in the digital space, Sara Mora has really honed her expertise and used it to create social change by inspiring action, spreading awareness and sharing very useful information.
