Santina Muha Exposes Misconceptions of Living With Disabilities Through Humor

With meetings and classes happening virtually due to the Coronavirus quarantine, comedian Santina Muha experienced something new: choosing when (or if) to disclose her disability. Shot entirely over video chat during quarantine, Santina meets strangers without mentioning her wheelchair to see how they react when they ultimately find out she lives life “ass level.” It is the focus of her award-winning new documentary, Full Picture.

Full Picture, a brand new documentary short written by and starring actress, comedian and activist Santina Muha, made its world premiere at The 27th Annual Slamdance Film Festival.  Santina has appeared in TV shows like “One Day at a Time,” “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” as well as films including Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, and Greener Grass and Wine Country. Last year she wrote, recorded and shot the music video for her first (comedic) rap song, “Ass Level,” which will also be playing at this year’s Slamdance Film Festival. She is currently writing a collection of essays and a feature film, and recently co-hosted a panel discussion on Comedy and Disability with Amy Poehler.

She joins Humberto to chat about it all on the latest new episode of Checkitow.
