Rachel Zegler Gets Invited to the Oscars After Social Media Outrage

Actress Rachel Zegler, who plays the lovely “Maria” in the new remake of West Side Story had quite an unusual Oscar’s invite. Earlier this week she said she was going to watch the Oscars on her sweatpants because she wasn’t invited to attend the ceremony. Something outrageous because it’s probably the first time that the main character of a movie that is being nominated isn’t invited to attend.

As one can imagine, there was a huge backlash on social media raising the question that if she had been any other ethnicity, would that have happened?

Probably not.

She is not only the protagonist of a movie that is nominated, she is also Snow White in the Disney live action movie. Thankfully,  the Academy, wanting to amend for their mistakes, not only invited her, but made her present an award.

We are very proud of Zegler who with only 20 years has accomplished so much!
