Prince Royce is a billboard topping artist who’s rise is without limits. In spite of these career highs in the mainstream culture the Bronx-born, Latin-raised artist continues to highlight his community. Now in a collaboration with McDonalds, he sees those two worlds meet as one.
Get It Girl’s Britni Camacho caught up with Prince Royce and Rah Azul to talk about the art and the biggest influences on their work.
“To be here and bringing my talent, seeing Royce bring his talent, seeing the music and the art is such a big part of Latino culture…that’s so empowering. I feel like it’s going to transcend no this generation but countless generations to come.” – Rah Azul.
Rah Azul is Los Angeles artist born in East LA, raised in the San Fernando Valley. The son of immigrant parents from Zapotlanejo near Jalisco, Azul uses mediums from music to murals to connect with his Mexican heritage. His work for the restaurants Ritmo y Color is titled La Metamorfosis Floreciente. The piece captures the journey of la mariposa monarca representing ‘growth, perseverance, and transformation’ for Latin people.
Music plays a pivotal part in each respective artist’s journey as well. Prince Royce shared how artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, and Marc Anthony shaped his work.

Azul’s love for hip-hop finds its way into his work, citing rappers like 2Pac, Nas, and Guru from Gang Starr as influences. While listening to these artists’ messages of struggle and perseverance while painting, Azul feels that he can relate the music to his own journey and better hone his craft.
Presented by McDonalds, Ritmo y Color “celebrates the fusion of Latin Urban Music and art, brought to life by artists who both champion and transcend their generation. McDonald’s is proud to serve as the platform where their unique vision can be realized.” invites artists in cities like Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles to showcases their Latinidad in McDonalds restaurants.
