Pilar Flynn Paves the Way for Other Latinas in Entertainment

To wrap up Women’s History Month and our #MujeresInCharge campaign on a wonderful note, we want to highlight a woman who is making history; Pilar Flynn, the producer of Marvel/Disney’s Moon Girl and the Devil Dinosaur. All the way from Chile and a mother of two, Pilar is a recognized advocate for creating and furthering opportunities for Latinos in Hollywood and continues to collaborate with other Latinos such as Edward James Olmos in order to advance those efforts.

Her latest animated TV series, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger. Based on Marvel’s hit comic books, the action-packed, funny and heartwarming series premieres February 10 on Disney Channel and shortly thereafter on Disney+.

Pilar, as many women in the industry had to work really hard to get where she is at. On top of being a hard-working mujer, she is also Latina. We got to talk to her for our special Mujeres in Charge about this and some of the misconceptions people have about female producers.  To see Pilar’s full interview, tune in on LATV this week Wednesday, March 29th and Friday, March 31st at 2 p.m. PST/ 5p.m. EST and digitally on the LATV+App.
