For those who don’t know, Pedro and Oscar’s friendship goes way back (almost two decades, to be exact). They first met in 2005 while working on the off-Broadway play, Beauty of the Father. Back then, they were both struggling actors making around $500 a week, just trying to pay rent and land auditions.

During that time, they bonded over their shared experiences as Latinos in Hollywood. “It’s gotten better, but at that point, it was so easy to be pigeonholed in very specific roles because we’re Latinos,” Oscar told Variety in 2020. “It’s like, how many gang member roles am I going to be sent?”

Despite the challenges, they supported each other through every rejection and every small victory. And when success finally came, it came for both of them at almost the same time.

Oscar got his big break in 2013 with Inside Llewyn Davis, earning a Golden Globe nomination. The following year, Pedro became a household name after playing “Oberyn Martell” in Game of Thrones. From there, their careers skyrocketed.
