Get2Know | Meet Octavio Cuadras
Octavio’s journey into music began at a young age. Growing up in Navolato, Sinaloa, he started working as a staff member for local bands, playing the tambora and tarolas while learning the ins and outs of the music scene. His biggest inspiration was his grandpa, who continues to guide him. Octavio’s positive outlook and passion for life are clear, not just in his music, but in his personality, too. His corridos felices are all about bringing joy to people through catchy rhythms and lively tunes, and it’s paying off.
During the interview, Octavio shared some fun personal details. For example, when asked about his “breakfast of champions,” he gave us a delicious glimpse into his morning routine: “My mom makes eggs with vegetables and puts the egg on a tortilla from the air fryer. You eat it with your hands, all messy. That’s the best.”
When it comes to traveling, Octavio keeps it simple. He shared his essentials for a flight: “Headphones, my phone fully charged, and as much downloaded music as possible from Spotify. I always load up on all the playlists before takeoff.” He’s clearly a music lover, and even admitted to having a playlist specifically for twerking!
He also shared his fashion style, describing it as “exotic,” though he admitted his go-to is often just black, white, or blue t-shirts. But the key to his look? “Pants, sneakers, and lately, caps.”
Octavio’s energy and humor were evident throughout the conversation, especially when talking about his favorite hobbies. When he’s not making music, you can find him at the bowling alley almost daily. “I’ve got this obsession with bowling,” he laughed. “I go with my friends, and I always win.” Bowling and playing the guitar seem to be his main ways of unwinding.
One of the best parts of the interview was hearing the advice his grandfather gave him, which Octavio says he lives by every day: “Get out of your comfort zone. Don’t stay comfortable with what you have—always push for more.” This mindset is likely what’s driving his unique approach to music and helping him stand out in the crowded world of regional Mexican music.

We also got to hear about Octavio’s love for all things Mexican. From his taste in music, which spans everything from mariachi to boleros, to his love for classic Mexican sounds, it’s clear that his heritage plays a big role in his life. “My musical tastes are like those of an old Mexican man,” he joked.
Lastly, if you’re curious about his favorite track from his latest album Corridos Felices Deluxe, it’s a song called “Deluxe,” which he described as “sadly happy.” It’s a story about heartbreak but told in a way that still makes you want to dance.
This Get2Know episode offers a glimpse into Octavio Cuadras’ life, personality, and passion. His music is not just about creating something new, but about making people feel good.
