Nike Releases SB Dunk Shoe ‘What the Paul’

Nike Releases SB Dunk Shoe ‘What the Paul’

In a follow up to the infamous Nike SB ‘What the Dunk’ designed by James Arizumi, which is now going for upto $12,000 on sites like Stockx and even Sotheby’s, Nike has released a Paul Rodriguez Jr. version of the same concept entitled, “What the Paul” that is already going for over $1,000 on resale sites.

The original ‘What the Dunk’ is one of the most coveted sneakers ever released by Nike. The shoes were created from 31 separate Nike SB Dunks, with a design goal to be the “Dunk to end all Dunks.” Nike claims the creation of the What the Dunk was “painstaking, meticulous, and ridiculous on purpose.”

Some notable features include an embroidered pigeon incorporated from the Pigeon SB Dunk, and neon ‘Jedi’ laces – a nod to the Jedi Dunk. The sneakers also include specific details of the Paris SB Dunks, London SB Dunks and Tweed SB Dunks. The neon green lining of the left shoe was included on the extremely limited ‘eBay Dunk,’ a style that was never even released to the public.

In this newer edition, Nike has taken that same concept and based the wacky design around all ten of Paul Rodriguez Jr’s past signature shoes with the brand. In recognition of the longstanding lineage, the ‘What the Paul’ incorporates details from memorable colorways of each of his former styles, resulting in an eclectic tapestry that celebrates the rich stories behind every material, graphic and hue ever witnessed over the course of P-Rod’s run with Nike Skateboarding.

Mismatched designs and materials on each shoe highlight some of the most iconic elements from P-Rod’s signature line, with ornate embroidery, wild prints, colorful gradients and a range of premium textures blending to turn familiar features into something entirely new.
