Unseen Basquiat Artwork to be Exhibited in New York

The family of the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat just released a statement saying they will be exhibiting never before seen works of his for the first time during a new exhibit titled “Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure” which will open in early spring of 2022 in the Starrett-Leigh Building in New York. Basquiat was once a street artist much like this Latina who is just breaking into the scene.
The exhibition will feature over 200 works that are either never before seen or rarely ever seen and promise to give a more personal portrait of the artist.
“There’s been many exhibitions of Jean-Michel’s work, but never told from the perspective of the family – Jean-Michel as a child, a man, a son, and a brother. As we were all in lockdown, we said: ‘Maybe now is the right time.'”- Jeanine Heriveaux sister of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Jean-Michel Basquiat’s iconic works have infiltrated all of pop culture and his signature crown has become a symbol all it’s own.
