MTV VMAs 2022: Best Latino Moments and Winners List

The MTV Video Music Awards took place on Sunday and they were hotter than ever.
The Prudential Center was filled with the latest in pop culture, and, of course, Latino artists were there to represent. Anitta, Becky G and J Balvin were amongst those who walked the red carpet, and also performed. Bad Bunny, who couldn’t be there because of his second show at Yankee Stadium, still made sure his presence was felt.
The 28-year-old Puerto Rican reggaetonero won one of the top awards of the night and it was given to him at Yankee Stadium in New York, after performing the song “Titi me preguntó,” — and after taking the opportunity to kiss two of his backup dancers, a man and a woman.
“Thank you very much, New York, Latino pride!; From my heart, I have no words to describe what I feel, the pride of receiving this award.
“Siempre creí desde el principio que podía llegar a ser grande, un artista mundial, sin cambiar mi cultura, mi idioma, mi jerga, soy Benito Antonio Martínez, de Puerto Rico para el mundo entero.”
“I always believed from the beginning that I could become great, a world artist, without changing my culture, my language, my jargon, I am Benito Antonio Martínez, from Puerto Rico for the whole world,” said the singer in Spanish.

But Benito wasn’t the only Latin representation on the MTV VMAs stage, the Brazilian bombshell, Anitta, had one of the hottest moments of the night by performing in a red leotard that left little to the imagination, as well as recreating her viral step during her single “Envolver.”
The biggest surprise for Anitta was receiving the award in the Best Latino category, for the same song.
“I didn’t expect this, I think I’m going to cry. I want to say that history is being made today. It’s the first time that Brazil is here, the first time that my country has been to an award ceremony like this,” she said during her speech.

J Balvin also had a moment at the VMA’s, he performed along Ryan Castro their sultry collaboration “Nivel De Perreo.”
