Movie Review ‘Vanquish’ | Latin Tomates

From the creator of “Bad Boys” comes this thriller about a former drug courier for the Russians (always the Russians) named Victoria (Ruby Rose) who is forced by her crime boss Damon (Morgan Freeman), a retired and seemingly corrupt police commissioner who lost the use of his legs in a retaliatory shooting years earlier, to murder and rob a slew of gangsters in exchange for her daughter’s safety. To ensure that Victoria executes the orders, he keeps Victoria’s most precious thing in the world hostage – her daughter.

So Victoria, armed to the teeth, speeds around town on her motorcycle killing more people than Tarantino (as one of the lines says) while Damon is in her ear (literally) at all times.

Rose does a really good job at balancing these two sides of Victoria; a ruthless retired drug courier and a loving and caring mom. And even though we’ve seen similar premises in any Liam Neeson movie, and it’s definitely not the type of movie you would watch if you are interested in character depth and development, if you are into action movies, this one is worth a watch.
