Miss Rizos: An Afro-Latina Beauty Brand Empowering Young Girls

Changing the world one curl at a time is the life motto of Afro-Latina Carolina Contreras, a.k.a. Miss Rizos, a Dominican beauty entrepreneur who started a movement on social media to celebrate, educate and empower curly-haired women.
Although Carolina’s brand started as a blog locally in the Dominican Republic in 2011, by 2014 she opened her first hair salon after seeing the need to have a beauty space dedicated specifically to curly hair care without using chemicals or heat.

Miss Rizos is now a brand sold internationally and it recently became available at Ulta.
This Latina-owned brand has become a social enterprise with an innovative, diverse and dynamic team who, through beauty education, wishes to continue the conversation of diversity and the beauty of textured hair.
Carolina is a graduate of the University of Ursinus in Pennsylvania and the American University in Aix-en-Provence in France where she obtained degrees in Political Science and French. Her great goal is to be able to leave the world better than how she found it.
Likewise, she plans to continue learning from everything that life has to teach. As she dreams without limits, she paves the way for younger girls through the Miss Rizos Foundation.
Keep up with Carolina’s story and find out more about the Miss Rizos brand on social media.
