Michael Lenoci: Real Talk on the Stand-Up Grind—Only on Checkitow!

On the latest episode of Checkitow, stand-up comedian and actor Michael Lenoci sits down with host Humberto Guida.

Lenoci’s observations about the lifestyle of a comedian were both honest and hilarious.

The Florida native has also starred on a variety of TV shows such as The Mick on FOX or the Goatface Comedy Special on Comedy Central. Most recently, he dropped his comedy special Take Your Time in April 2024, and he’s currently touring across the US with his unique brand of humor.

And on top of all of that, he is also the host of The Mike Lenoci Show, where he talks about life on the road, the comedy scene, and navigating the wild world of dating in Los Angeles.

In this episode, Michael shared some fascinating stories about his life as a comedian. One of the most talked-about topics was the balance between the demanding lifestyle of comedy and staying healthy—both physically and financially. When asked about whether a career in stand-up is unhealthy, Michael said:

“It doesn’t have to be. It can be healthy. Get a good sleep…”

He emphasized that while many comics often fall into the habit of drinking or worse, it’s not something all comedians do. As Michael put it: “Some do, some do more. But some people don’t. A lot of people don’t.”

It’s all about finding your own rhythm. For him, it’s about freedom. He likes to wake up naturally and live life on his own terms: “I woke up today at 11, and if I wasn’t doing this, I would’ve slept till 1. I wanna wake up naturally. I don’t wanna be told to wake up.”

Sounds like the dream, right? It’s that kind of attitude that fuels his passion for stand-up:

“I go do my show, then I’ll go home, edit some stuff, and go to sleep. Wake up and do the same process. That’s why I’m doing this. I do this so I can go to bed when I wanna go to bed and wake up when I wanna wake up.”

You’ll definitely get a fresh perspective on the ups and downs of being on the road, performing night after night.

Tune in to Checkitow and catch the conversation with Michael Lenoci—it’s funny, real, and definitely worth a listen!
