Meet Brandi J. Andrews, the Afro-Latina Expert on Melanated Skin

Brandi J. Andrews is an Afro-Latina medical-trained esthetician, melanin skin specialist, and LGBTQ-intentional parent who brings over 22 years of experience, awards, and recognition in the beauty industry to the table. Her expertise in skincare has made her a sought-after expert by Hollywood elites such as Lena Waithe, Cynthia Erivo, and Sophia Nomvete, among others. Brandi will be kicking off the new season of Shades Of Beauty!

As an only child and first-generation entrepreneur, Brandi has always had a driving force to educate and inspire change within the global beauty industry. Her passion and dedication to skincare led her to receive an extensive education from the San Francisco Institute of Esthetic + Cosmetology (SFIEC), a Paul Mitchell School, in 2008. She was the first student to complete both the cosmetology and esthetics curriculum within a year and graduate with honors.

Brandi has worked in the competitive high-end dermatology and cosmetic aesthetics field since 2018, leading sales and directing operations in Beverly Hills. She has also completed an externship program under Landon McCarroll DHSc, PA, studying melanin skin conditions and pigmentation disorders. In 2023, she will become a triple-state licensed professional in the beauty industry by completing her courses to become a Medical Assistant.

Brandi’s extensive knowledge in the beauty industry, as well as the world of medical aesthetics, has allowed her to tailor and fine-tune top-tier services for people of every background. She founded Luna Vibe, which features a Holistic Spa, as a way to fulfill her dreams of creating a space where all communities can feel “at home,” with products created just for them and experts on the spot to care for their skin. This vision can be considered a new and radical experience for people of color.

Brandi’s upcoming episode with LATV’s Shades of Beauty: “It’s the Melanin for Me,” is a testament to her passion for educating and inspiring change in the beauty industry. The episode will feature our hosts discussing how to care for their skin based on their skin type and color, what works and what doesn’t, what they’re afraid of, and what has helped.

The episode will also feature an interview with Brandi Andrews, where she will talk about how to care for melanated skin from a skin expert’s perspective. She will share what it has been like for her as an Afro-Latina in the skincare/cosmetic industry and give a demo of a proper daily wash and hydrate routine using her all-natural skincare line, Youth Dealer.

Brandi will also touch on the importance of protecting melanated skin from the sun, which can be a challenge for people with darker skin tones. While darker skin tones are less susceptible to skin cancer, they are still at risk for sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and premature aging. The phrase “It’s the Melanin For Me” emphasizes the importance of embracing and celebrating the unique characteristics of melanated skin while also taking the necessary steps to protect and care for it properly.

Brandi Andrews is a trailblazer in the beauty industry with a passion for educating and inspiring change. Her extensive knowledge in the beauty and medical aesthetics fields has allowed her to provide top-tier services for people of every background. Her upcoming interview episode, “Shades of Beauty,” will be an informative and eye-opening experience for anyone looking to learn more about caring for their skin and protecting melanated skin from the sun.
