Mami Got This’ Special with Lorna Litz

Mami Got This’ Special with Lorna Litz

On our Women Entrepreneur Get it Girl Special, Latina mom Lorna Litz and I got to chat about some of the most common motherhood challenges in the baby and toddler years while tossing to the best of Mami Got This.

Both Lorna and I are raising our kids far from our families and we acknowledge how important having a community is. That’s how Mami Got This was born, as a show and a platform where moms can find support and/or advice from other Latina moms who are or have been in the same boat you are. Because we are not meant to do all of this on our own. In the past, our grandmothers used to live in villages where life as a community was way easier (that’s the only way I can explain why my great-grandmother could have 11 kids without going insane or broke). Your kids would get raised not just by mom and dad, but by the abuela, las tias, tios, older primos…but in today’s society and especially during a pandemic that’s a different story.

Also, sometimes as Latina and immigrant, I find it difficult to bond with white American moms. They seem to have it all figured out while I feel I’m running around like a chicken without a head. So I’m here to say, if you stumbled upon a picky eater who doesn’t want to eat anything you spend hours cooking for him, you are not alone; if your baby didn’t sleep through the night until he was 3, you are not alone, and if you feel you don’t have time for anything even when you only have one kid…I feel you, girl.

Moms are superheroes without recognition, but on Mami Got This, we’re here to listen. Come and join Lorna Litz and myself in this non-judgemental, and brutally honest mom-special,
