Comedy, acting, and magic: Lupe Cambiasso and Michael Campion on The Big Deal

On this episode of The Big Deal, we sat down with two incredible guests: Lupe Cambiasso and Michael Campion, who shared with us their unique talents and fascinating stories.

First up was Lupe Cambiasso, one of the funniest comedians from Argentina. She’s best known for her breakout role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, but her journey to success in the U.S. was far from easy. Lupe moved to Los Angeles in 2019 with an artist visa, which allowed her to pursue her career in the entertainment industry.

Her path wasn’t easy at first, especially being far from home and navigating a new city during the pandemic. However, just two months after arriving, she signed with a prestigious talent agency and from there she worked tirelessly to book roles across TV, commercials, and more.

During the interview, Lupe opened up about the complexities of securing US work visas for foreign artists. She now runs a supportive social media project aimed at helping others who face the same hurdles. “For foreigners, when they want to come to America to work, you need a work permit… I find myself in the need to actually help other people get that support. Pat your back and say, ‘Oh Lupita, tranquila, you can cry on my shoulder,’” she explained. Through her posts, she goes into detail about the intimidating visa process, explains how it’s done, and provides tips and encouragement to those struggling with the same journey she once faced.

We also couldn’t let Lupe leave without talking about her experience working with Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

She shared a hilarious story from the set: “It was an amazing experience… I didn’t tell him that I was from Argentina… And then in one of the takes he actually told me, ‘Oh, I didn’t know, but maybe in Argentina you did that.’ I was shocked… but they didn’t use that take. It was awesome working with him. I didn’t want to look like a fan, so I was the opposite. I was ignoring him,” Lupe laughed.

Our second guest, Michael Campion, is an actor you may recognize from his role as Jackson Fuller on Netflix’s Fuller House, but there’s much more to his story. Michael discovered his love for acting when he was just six years old, performing at his local community theater. After getting his first taste of being on stage, he was hooked and worked on sharpening his skills. By the time he was 13, he was cast as Jackson Fuller, a role that earned him a large fanbase during the show’s five seasons.

But acting isn’t Michael’s only passion; he’s also an incredibly talented magician. He started performing magic at the age of eight and is now one of the youngest junior members of Hollywood’s prestigious Magic Castle. During the episode, Michael didn’t just talk about magic—he showed us his skills! In a trick that left everyone speechless, he made a card Vivian picked rise to the top of the deck while she was holding it in her hands. Then, in a twist, he turned the whole deck into crystal-clear glass, without her even moving!

Michael also shared how he balances both his love for acting and magic, performing at various venues and events whenever he’s not on set. When he’s not working, he enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends, all while keeping his magic skills sharp.

Lupe’s humor and passion for helping others, combined with her inspiring journey in the industry, and Michael’s fun energy and jaw-dropping magic tricks, made for an unforgettable episode of The Big Deal that you won’t want to miss. Be sure to tune in to hear more of their stories and watch the magic unfold—literally!
