Luis Guzman Joins Addams Family Reboot ‘Wednesday’

Tim Burton will be creating a live-action Addams Family TV reboot called Wednesday and one of our favorite Latino actors Luis Guzman was just cast to play Gomez Addams. Burton will not only direct the series but also act as executive producer. Al Gough, Miles Millar, Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi , Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania, and Gail Berman will all executive produce alongside Burton. The series will be available for streaming on Netflix. The last time Luis Guzman played a key role for a Netflix show, it was his scene-stealing work on Narcos.
This reboot surprised some fans when they learned that the series main focus will be on the Addams family’s daughter, Wednesday Addams. The series will be called Wednesday. It will follow the story of a college-aged Wednesday Addams, attending Nevermore Academy. Die-hard fans shouldn’t fret; the other members of Wednesday’s family will likely make an appearance on the show as well. Jenna Ortega has been cast to play Wednesday Addams in the reboot.
The show Wednesday is being described as a supernatural comedy. The show follows Wednesday’s daily life as she attends college, and attempts to master her newfound psychic abilities. Wednesday will act as a sleuth, solving a twenty-five-year-old mystery involving her parents. She will also thwart a murderous killing spree afflicting the local town.
Fans of the series are excited and have been speculating on who Burton plans to cast as the rest of the Addams family characters. The next character announced was the role of Gomez Addams. Luis Guzmán has been cast to play the role of Gomez Addams, Wednesday Addams’ father. Luis Guzmán is a veteran actor who has appeared on both the big and small screens.
Luis Guzmán was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on August 28, 1956. His mother, Rosa, was a hospital worker. His stepfather, Benjamin Cardona, was as a TV repairman. He was raised in Greenwich Village, which is located in New York. Guzmán attended American University. When he graduated, be started his career as social worker. Acting started out as a hobby, something Guzmán did as a side job. Later, Guzmán began working as a street theater artist, and over time, his hobby became a passion. Later, a friend asked Guzmán to audition for a part on a TV series. Guzmán auditioned and earned a role on the show Miami Vice. He has spent the last forty years for his life acting in films such as The limey, Traffic, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, and Out of Sight. He has also stared in TV shows such as How to Make It in America and Code Black. Guzman is no stranger to Netflix either, having started in the Netflix series Narcos. Guzmán is multilingual. He can speak seventy languages fluently. He currently lives in Vermont with his wife, Angelita Galarza- Guzmán, and his six children: Cemi Guzmán, Yoruba Briggs- Guzmán, Yemaya Briggs- Guzmán, Luna Guzmán, Jace O’Flynn Guzmán, and Margarita Briggs- Guzmán.
The Addams family story has been told and retold a number of times over the years. The Adams family was originally created in 1938 as a cartoon by American artist, Charles Addams. The story has been adapted over the years to include films, animated movies, and two other live-action TV series. Fans are excited to see what new direction and twists Burton has in store for the series, and who will be cast in the remaining roles of the Addams Family.
