Loud: A New Podcast Details History of Reggaetón

The new docu-podcast about reggaetón – Loud – is set to premier on Spotify and we got a sneak peek at the trailer.
The official trailer premiere of new investigative podcast Loud, which chronicles the history and evolution of the reggaetón movement, hosted by the Puerto Rican singer, rapper and undisputed “Queen of Reggaetón,” Ivy Queen, in addition to an array of artists that expanded the genre. The podcast unpacks how this cross pollination of music — Jamaican influences of reggae and dancehall with those of Latin America, such as bomba, plena as well as Hip-Hop, has taken over the world as one of the most ubiquitous sounds on radio, from dance floors to speakers.
LOUD explores the touchstones of Reggaeton through on-the-ground reporting spanning countries all across the globe. Each episode serves as a chapter in the story of the genre: from traces of the music beat that sparked a war between two San Juan DJs (and resulted in a drive-by shooting injury of Daddy Yankee) to drug trades and fearful politicians that shaped the successes of cultural hits like “Gasolina.”
Listeners will be treated to personal takes from the show’s special guests and Hispanic/Latinx music icons such as: Nicky Jam, Rauw Alejandro, Maluma, Zion y Lennox, Sech and more.
The series will premiered on Spotify on Wednesday, August 4th, with new episodes releasing every week.
