Award Winning Cuban Film is Leslie Lluvet’s Life Story | American Latino

Leslie Lluvet is an award-winning actress, writer, director and producer. She was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Miami. Leslie and her parents left Cuba in 1994 and escaped the island searching for freedom. At age 16 she began writing the award-winning short film 90 Miles, the story about her family’s journey to the United States. The movie paints a grim picture of a Caribbean dictatorship, but also offers an unexpected message of hope. Lluvet’s performance in 90 Miles just earned her a Best Actress award at the Cannes Short Film festival. And has proven that one can find inspiration and create a successful career even in the direst of circumstances, something to look up to, here, on American Latino TV.
