Leslie Grace to Play Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl

DC just made its final decision in casting the new Batgirl – it’s Leslie Grace! After testing actresses all week, Warner Brothers decided on Leslie based on her fantastic audition.

The film will live on HBO Max, which makes it one of the first DC properties that will live exclusively on the streamer. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the script by Christina Hodson and Kristin Burr will produce.

Leslie Grace is an Afro-Latina actress who has recently starred in the Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical feature, In The Heights.

While the official plot details are under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

Grace, repped by CAA, was among a final group of actresses being tested for the role that included Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch and Haley Lu Richardson as Deadline first reported.
