MET GALA 2022: Latinos Shine Bright in Iconic Designs

The MET Gala, a ball considered the most important fashion night in the United States was held in New York City last night.

Camila Cabello, Bad bunny, Oscar Isaac, Cardi B, Eiza Gonzalez, Rosalía, MJ Rodríguez, J Balvin and many more wore their best suit to represent Latinos at the Met. 

Here are some of the most fashionable, fun, yet controversial models of the night.

Anitta came along with Jeremy Scott, the creative director of Moschino. The Brazilian star wore a signature dress with a crossed off-the-shoulder neckline that hugged her waist, highlighting pearl applications on top of it.

After announcing his album release date, Bad Bunny debuted at the MET Gala with a Burberry ensemble that consisted of sand-colored pants, as well as a long coat with a dress-like silhouette with puffed sleeves. Sticking to his artistic image, El Conejo Malo had a hairstyle with a high bun and a small curtain fringe, decorated with golden flowers.

Oscar-winning actress, Ariana DeBose, also arrived from the hand of Moschino’s creative designer, who created a unique trousseau for her, in black with gold details.

Lin Manuel Miranda and his wife Vanessa Nadal were among the first to arrive at the event as the Nuyorican producer is a co-chair with artists like Blake Lively.

Camila Cabello wore a Prabal Gurung creation that she herself pointed out was made by an immigrant designer with sustainable materials. The “Bam Bam” singer debuted in 2021 at the MET Gala with her ex, Shawn Mendes, who also showed up on his own.

Eiza Gonzalez showed off her curves with something more sophisticated, but maintaining her minimalist style. She modeled a white Michael Kors creation, which was characterized by a trumpet-cut dress with a deep V-neckline, and feather details on the skirt.

Rosalía‘s outfit at the Met Gala was designed by Givenchy. While the corset-style top was decorated with silver embroidered details, the skirt had ruffles at the bottom. She wore sunglasses and a clutch bag to accessorize.

J Balvin, ‘El Niño de Medellín’, returned to the MET Gala for his second year and chose a black tuxedo with a white vest and bow tie, which contrasted with his hair painted green and yellow.
