Calling All Latino Filmmakers! This Is Your Chance to Shine and Be Mentored by Anthony Ramos

McDonald’s USA is bringing back Spotlight Dorado, its multi-year platform aimed at empowering and amplifying Latino voices across different industries, starting off with filmmaking. Together with a roster of key industry leaders and film experts, we aim to support emerging filmmakers and screenwriters in the Latino community with the tools and resources they need to bring their stories to life.

Through Spotlight Dorado, McDonald’s uses its influence and scale to help advocate for Latino representation in film. Their goal is to provide these talented storytellers with the platform, financing, and distribution to produce their films while receiving invaluable mentorship from renowned industry leaders to help bring their stories to life and advance their careers.

This is the second consecutive year of the McDonald’s Spotlight Dorado short film contest, where the initiative continues to advocate for underrepresented filmmakers while taking actionable steps toward fueling new voices and driving change for Latinos in the film industry. The contest is free to enter and open to all U.S. Latinos, regardless of experience, age, or background. The price is $75,000 to film your short; you also get amazing mentors to back you up. This year’s mentors are Anthony Ramos, Gloria Calderon-Kellet, Al Madrigal, Danay Garcia, Carlos Lopez Estrada and Nancy C Mejia.

Don’t miss this opportunity! U.S.-based Latinos can submit their screenplays until April 21st! Three finalists will be selected and awarded a $75,000 budget and mentorship opportunities from industry leaders to produce their short films.
