Latine Pride and the LGBTQ Community

During pride month, it’s essential to recognize the LGBTQ Latino community as part of the world and is here to continue inspiring millions of people to be proud of who they are, no matter the skin color or the gender that they identify as.
That being said, pride month is here to remind the world that people are here to speak their truths, and we all have to respect that by starting to recognize the correct pronouns for the right person.
Sure, pronouns are simple modifiers to substitute real names, but using them in the wrong context or forgetting that gender is a spectrum can harm the LGBTQ community.
In Latin American areas, it’s significantly more challenging to use pronouns because the world has assigned the usual Latina and Latino modifiers without ever considering the people who belong outside of that gender spectrum.
PRONOUNS AND THE CONTROVERSY
The idea of gender being non-binary and going as far as making it a spectrum rather than taking the roots of biology has been a long debate. This means that people are divided into two where science and social studies are concerned.
First, biology won’t allow genders to be a spectrum. On the other hand, it disagrees entirely and makes it a spectrum of ideas rooted in a person under the minority groups.
However, science forgets that the basis of the argument from the LGBTQ community is simply the identity side of things and never meddles with science in the first place. Some claim why their identity must be called dubious and questioned when no harm had been done to anyone in the grand scheme.
All should note this when comparing and contrasting beliefs that can potentially harm these communities. No matter how minute or specific they can be, these pronouns have improved the lives of those who don’t belong in the binary forms of gender.
This is why terms like the Latine are new to the English language and meant to describe people of Latin American descent who don’t identify themselves as either male, female, or the myriad of genders that exist today.
TAKE PRIDE, AND DON’T FORGET YOUR PRONOUNS!
It’s pretty challenging to delineate which ones belong to the LGBTQ community without even asking them in the first place. Likewise, it’s also rude to assume someone’s gender, making all the endeavors more complex in actual applications.
And here lies the importance of knowing the pronouns and why all communities must be inclusive, especially when it comes to knowing the struggles minority groups like the LGBTQ groups are concerned with.
During pride month, it is integral that the Latinx community be recognized. Fortunately, many people in the world have opened their eyes and minds to the possibility of making a difference and turning all these good causes into reality.
