Here Are the Latest Latinx Series Coming to Netflix in January

A new year means a new assortment of movies and TV shows to binge-watch. See below a full list of what you can hook on this January on Netflix.

Rebelde

The iconic 2004 Mexican telenovela is back. Based on the Argentinian telenovela Rebelde Way, Rebelde is getting a Netflix reboot. This next generation of Rebelde is here with a new cast across Latin America and new aspects to the show that has not been seen before, such as LGBTQ+ representation. The new generation of the international boarding school of Elite Way School now has a prestigious music program and the new students enrolling have dreams of becoming musical stars. Airing January 5th, let’s see if the new adaptation can surpass the craze the 2004 Rebelde series held for many Latinx households. 

El Páramo 

Airing January 6th, after premiering at the Sitges Festival, Netflix has added a new original Spanish thriller. Directed by David Casademunt, the film tells a story of a terrifying creature testing the bond of a family that lives isolated from society. 

El Comediante

A Mexican comedy movie airing on February 14th. This movie can certainly bring laughs on Valentine’s Day as you follow a failed comedian that finds new meaning in his life when his best friend asks him to be a sperm donor. 

Heavenly Bites: Mexico 

A food docu-series that explores Mexican gastronomy. The show is directed by Juan Márquez, an alum of Mexico City’s prestigious Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. Márquez has also featured at Mexico’s Morelia Festival, Havana, Lima, Marrakech, Palm Springs, Portland and San Francisco festivals alongside the Platino Awards. This show will air on January 19th on Netflix. 

Juanpis Gonzales: The Series

Colombian comedian, Alejandro Riaño, brings his controversial social media personality Juanpis Gonzales to life in this new script series. Follow Juanpis into uncharted territories of dirty politics and true love while he attempts to pass the test to inherit his family’s business. Airing on January 19th on Netflix.

Neymar: The Perfect Chaos

Discover a new side of Brazilian soccer star Neymar in this docu-series following him through the highs and lows of his personal life and brilliant football career. The series will feature interviews with football stars such as David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, among others, all discussing Neymar’s talent on the field, character, and his place in sports history. This series will be airing on January 25th.
