Las Marías, the Twins Reinventing Regional Mexicano
Las Marías, the young duo who is revolutionizing the genre of regional Mexicano, has launched a new single titled “De La Finikera,” referring to the slang “finikera” which comes from a term Mexican-Americans started to call that people who live in Phoenix, Arizona.
With that song, Las Marías tell us a very dramatic part of their story about how her parents got deported, how they had to leave Phoenix, AZ, the city where they were born, behind them and how Sonora welcomed them.
Even though it was a tough journey, María Teresa and María Isabel are grateful for the path life put them in since they were able to dive into the Mexican music and culture way more.
“De La Finikera” is the song that the duo played on the new NBC show “American Song Contest, ” where they represent Arizona.
