Karol G Reacts to Her GQ Mag Photoshopped Cover: It’s ‘Disrespectful’

Karol G is not abiding by old media image standards!

The Colombian singer expressed her indignation with GQ México for changing her features in the photo that braces their latest cover, despite asking them not to.

The Medellín native, born Carolina Giraldo, states she asked GQ to override any arrangements made to her photo, they ignored her request. The photo shows her with a slimmer face and a thinner body.

The “TQG” interpreter took her disappointment to her Instagram profile by posting the cover photo and a message in which she makes it clear that this photo does not represent her, because her face and body do not look like that, so she would have preferred to be shown naturally.

“I don’t even know where to start this message… Today my GQ magazine cover was made public, a cover with an image that does NOT represent me. My face doesn’t look like that, my body doesn’t look like that and I feel very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally,” wrote Karol G.

I appreciate opportunity magazine because I was very happy when they confirmed that I would be there, but despite making clear my disagreement with the number of edits they made to the photo, they did nothing about it, as if I needed all those changes to look good,” adds the 32-year-old  interpreter.

Aware that there may be repercussions for her message, Karol G’s expression is not due to any lack of respect for herself, but for all women who every day “wake up trying to feel comfortable with ourselves despite the stereotypes of society.”
