Kamala Harris Concedes to Donald Trump, Affirms Her Determination to Keep Fighting

It was a day of mixed feelings in the country as the 2024 presidential election has resulted in a victory for the twice-impeached former president Donald J. Trump, marking his return to the White House. The results came after a highly polarized campaign season that seemingly divided the country in half.
Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, held her post election speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C., her alma mater, where she was joined by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other supporters. In a powerful concession speech, Harris expressed heartfelt gratitude to her family, President Joe Biden, her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and her campaign team. “My heart is full today,” Harris said. “Full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, full of love for our country, and full of resolve.”
She acknowledged that while the outcome was disappointing, her resolve and hope for America’s future remained strong.
Harris proclaimed the strength of American ideals, vowing that “the light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.”
Celebrity endorsements were notably divided in this election, the contrasts between Trump’s celebrity endorsements and Kamala’s weren’t enough to keep the democrats in the Oval Office. Although Harris has the backing of huge stars including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, LeBron James and more, it didn’t seem to matter to Trump’s Elon Musk, Joe Rogan and Jeff Bezos’ endorsements.
There are many who are fearful of what a Trump second term could mean for them, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals and those with disabilities. But many have gone to Twitter to express their need to stick together and although fearful are hopeful for a peaceful four years under a Trump administration.
