Junior H Kicked Off His Sad Boyz 2023 Tour In Los Angeles

I had the honor of attending Junior H Sad Boyz 2023 Tour concert last Friday at the Crypto.com arena, and I enjoyed every second of it. This concert was twice as big as last year’s, and according to his publicists, he gathered around 13,000 people.

Concert Experience

As a fan of his work since 2019, it is truly amazing to see his growth throughout the years. Last December, he promised his fans that he would return to Los Angeles to perform in a bigger venue, and he did.

Throughout the show, the entire crypto.com arena was singing their lungs out and vibing out. It’s evident that Junior H applies so much passion into his music and nevertheless gives a fantastic performance. He sang all his hit songs like “El Azul” ft. Peso Pluma, “Fin de Semana” ft. Gabito Ballesteros and some throwbacks such as “Mente Positiva” and “1004 Kilometros”.

Halfway through the set,  Jimmy Humilde, founder and chief executive of Rancho Humilde, made an appearance to announce the nine platinum plaques and two diamond record plaques Junior H received. He goes on to say that Junior H has been killing it.

“No hay muchos mexicanos haciendo lo que este ca– está haciendo”, Humilde said.

Corridos tumbados have received backlash since the day the subgenre came about. Therefore seeing artists who are part of this new wave of Mexican regional music succeed is prodigious.

Junior H followed this by giving thanks and telling his fans that, “Gracias a ustedes estamos aquí y todos esos, esos obsequios son recuerdos de toda la vida que tendré y gracias a ustedes estamos arriba”. He is clearly very thankful and appreciative of his fans’ support.

Junior ended the night with his hit “Se Amerita”, a song about celebrating life after overcoming hardships, and promised his audience that next year’s event would be even bigger!

Meet Junior H

Antonio Herrera Perez aka Junior H is a 23 year old from Guanajuato, Mexico. He is part of the urban corrido movement, los corridos tumbados. This is a musical bridge between trap and corridos. He moved to the United States with his family in 2015 and began his career independently by simply recording his own songs and uploading them to the internet.

His music uses the requinto, base guitars, and traditional corrido instrumentation such as the tuba and percussion. In 2019, while still in high school, he released his song “No He Cambiado” which went viral on youtube. Shortly after, Jimmy Humilde reached out, and he signed under the regional Mexican record label Rancho Humilde. He then collaborated with Natanael Cano, and they dropped their hit single “Disfruto Lo Malo.” This song then paved the way for all artists in this subgenre. Since then, he has released more than a hundred songs and eight albums.

This year alone, Junior H has gained more recognition, especially from a few collaborations with other artists like Peso Pluma, Gabito Ballesteros, Oscar Maydon, Rauw Alejandro, and many more.

His unique style of interpretation has given him the success he deserves.
