Michael Anthony was born on January 13, 1976. He is an actor who is renowned for his parts in the films Crash, Observe or Report and Chavez. He made an appearance in Nickelback’s new song “Savin’ Me.” Michael Anthony is an Academy Award-winning performer and singer who has starred in films like Crash (2004) and Million Dollar Baby. Pena, who started acting in 1996, has acted in various TV episodes, including Walkout (2006), for which he won the Imagen Award for Top Performer.

Peña was raised by Nicolasa Peña, a social worker and Eleuterio Peña, a factory worker. Both of his parents became farmers when they moved from Mexico.

Pena was brought up in the North Lawndale region and went to school at Marist High School. He graduated from Hubbard High School, where He was an active participant in track and wrestling. Peña also attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine Elementary School. He is married to Brie Shaffer, with whom he has a son.

Pena’s Career in Film

Michael Pena’s acting career started way back in 1994 where he played a role in an independent production. His breakthrough came in 2004 in two Best Picture Oscar-winning, Crash (2004) and Million Dollar Baby, in the same year.

The emotional role that he played in Crash was the beginning of his stardom career. It opened doors for other roles.

He appeared in The Shield (2005), which later won a Golden Globe award in 2006. He starred in Oliver Stone‘s film, which was based on the attack at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.  This has put his name as a distinguished actor who starred in three films nominated consecutively for Oscar awards.

In 2007, he did not rest; he took another project in Lions for Lambs as Ernest Rodriguez and The Lucky Ones as TK. He later made an appearance in Shooters as Nick Memphis, an FBI agent.

Peña first appeared on tv in 1996, in the cop show Pacific Blue. Following that, he had minor appearances in Television programs like The Sentinel (1998) or the Profiler (1998).  Pena co-starred in the crime thriller film End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal in 2012. The film had its big debut at the Film Festival, where it was well welcomed by critics. In 2011, we saw him featured in 30 Minutes or Less as Chango, Tower Heist as Enrique Dev’Reaux, and The Lincoln Lawyer as Jesus Martinez. The same year he made an appearance in the famous medical drama series The Good Doctor as Jimmy.

Until 2017, after being featured in so many TV series and movies until Netflix called for his services to make an appearance in Narcos. It was released later in 2018, and he starred as Enrique “Kiki” Camarena until 2020 in 11 episodes.

Peña’s resent work appearances include Tom and Jerry (2021) as Terence, Moon Fall (2022), currently in post-production  as Tom Lopez, and filming work in Secret Headquarters (2022).

Michael Pena has voiced in Turbo as Tito, in the movie My Little Pony as Grubber, FX animated comedy show The Chozen in character called Ricky. Additionally, He has added his voice for Hot Water for a character named Marguerite and an animated series known as American Dad.
